My Favorite Final Fantasy...So Far...

At the moment, my favorite of all the Final Fantasy games that I have played is Final Fantasy VI. The story line is great! Being able to use the Espers and all the cool weapons makes it a fun game. I'm still debating as to which FFVI character is my favorite.

Another Final Fantasy game that I enjoy playing ever so often is Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. It's not the best Final Fantasy game, but I really like having all those magic power to use when you're battling. Plus, I like listening to the score as I travel around.

Anyway, those are the ones I really like at the moment.

Favorite Final Fantasy?

Me, I like Final Fantasy VII. I've played them all (except XI). I mostly like it because of the incredible story, plus Cloud Strife is probably one of the best heros they've had in a long while. Sephiroth is one of the most dastardly villains of the series as well (yes I said dastardly).

The device is in perfect working order (I have been very careful to keep the screens free of scratches) , and Im pretty sure I still have the original packaging. The battery charger is obviously included as well. I have several stylus pens that I will give with it as well.

Hi, I'm new!

Hi, I'm new to this tribe and to Final Fantasy at large. I had never really been into FF but a couple of months ago on a whim I bought FFX. I'm around 35 hours into it and I'm hooked, so much so that I went ahead and bought X2 so I can start on it immediately after I'm finished.

I'm also playing through FF 1&2: Dawn of Souls on the GBA and am having a blast with it at work.

Final Fantasy X2

When I first saw that FFX2 was focused on young girls who's magic system depended on changing dresses I said no thanx. But now I here that the game is considered one of the best FF games ever.
My question is- Is this a game a 27 year old male can enjoy without feeling odd? Or in other words would you recommend this game to someone like me?

The latest (September 2005) issue of Game Developer Magazine has a cover story about Final Fantasy 7: Before Crisis if anyone is interested in picking it up.

Coolest thing from the article: In order to obtain materia, you take pictures of REAL things with the camera phone. The picture is then analyzed by the game to determine the dominant color in the picture, and that is the color of materia you obtain from the picture. Want fire materia? Take a picture of a burning fire. Want meteor materia? Take a picture of your coffee. Awesome.

Crappiest thing from the article: The game is currently only slated for release on NTT DoCoMo FOMA 900 series phones.

FFX-2 Replay Question

I'm very close to beating FFX-2 with ALMOST 100%. The only thing I missed was that I accused Rin instead of Rikku. Damnit. So I got an Episode Concluded (rather than Episode Complete) for Mihen Highroad.

My question is, how thorough do I have to be on the second playthrough to get 100%? Can I completely ignore all side-events except for viewing the correct scenes in Chapter 4 for Mihen Highroad? Or do I have to do everything for Mihen all over again in order to get the Episode Complete there?

Similarly, if I want to get the Mascot Dress Spheres on the second go-round, do I have to do everything 100% all over again or will my previous Episode Completes carry over, allowing me to just focus on completing Mihen Highroad successfully?

And finally, how long would you estimate a no-side-quest New Game Plus playthrough would take? I'll probably finish my first runthrough at about 50 hours, but it seems like 90% of that has been side-quests. Would it be unreasonable to think that I could run through it a second time, ignoring everything but the main plot (except Mihen as mentioned above), in under 10 hours?

Connections (Spoilers)

Although each game (except X,X2) are supposed to be seperate games I have noticed direct connections between them. An example is in X2 when Shrina and Rin talk about being able one day to process the material in the Farplane as a source of energy, putting this game as a prequel to FF7. I'm about to finish FF2 for the first time and I was shocked to hear about the "Pandamonium" floating fortress that was a pathway for a flood of monsters complete with a jade green pathway! They're describing the thing in FF8!

What other ones have you noticed?

Fav Side Quest

Obvious question, What was the best time you've had wasting time, Not advancing the story, Not leveling up. You know what I mean; The stuff that was there because game designers are crazy and have no life. Whether it was trying to get a rare item, or just to get a do NOTHING sign on the attribute page. What was the best waste of time?

Mine are the card game "Tripple Triad" in 8 and the Chocobo races in 9. I've gotta say the Proof of omega was kinda cool in 8.
